AI receptionists, explained

Can AI answer my business phone?

Yes. You set your existing business line to forward calls you do not answer, and the AI picks those up instead of voicemail. It keeps your own number, needs no new hardware, and you can still answer any call yourself — the phone rings you first.

Your number stays your number

The number on your van, your website and every invoice you have ever sent does not change. Call forwarding is a standard feature of the line you already pay for; you are pointing unanswered calls somewhere more useful than a beep.

You are not handing over your phone

Calls ring you first. Pick up and the AI is never involved in that call at all. It exists for the ones where you are up a ladder, under a sink, driving, or asleep.

That is worth being clear about, because the objection people raise is usually I do not want a robot answering my customers. It is not answering your customers. It is answering the customers who currently reach nobody.

What it will and will not say

It greets people as your business, finds out who is calling and what they need, and takes a callback number. It will not quote a price, promise a time, or commit you to anything — you make those decisions when you ring back.

Common questions

Will I have to change my phone number?

No. It works with your existing line through call forwarding, so the number you advertise stays exactly as it is.

Do I need new equipment?

No. There is no handset, no box and nothing to install at your premises.

Can I still answer calls myself?

Yes — your phone rings first, every time. The AI only picks up what you do not.
